Hello, and welcome! First thing’s first, thank you for reaching out to me for your family photos. Creating mementos for families is one of my greatest joys and a true honor, so I want to take the time to thank you for your support and consideration. Can’t wait to meet you and your family for your mini session!

By now, you should have received your invoice with the confirmed date, time, and location of your session. If you have any questions or incur any issues making payment, please reach out to me. Once payment has been confirmed, I will send you a receipt for your records. A week before your session I will also email you my personal phone number so that we can coordinate a specific meeting place and communicate any last minute details before your session.

A few tips:

If you have small children(under the age of 3), please bring a few of their all-time favorite toys!  Toys that rattle, play music, or make other types of noises are best because they help get little one’s attention when they start to get bored.  I will have a few gifts on hand to pass out as a thank you once the session ends. They will not be edible, more so things like stickers and bubbles.

If you are bringing your pet(s), I will bring a squeaky dog toy from home but please bring treats that your pet enjoys best to the session. Also consider whether you’ll need a friend to tag along to hold onto your furry friend or watch the kiddos while we take pictures of Mom and Dad.

Please account for parking/getting in and out of the car and walking over to our meeting location. All sessions have been booked back-to-back with a ten minute buffer.

Finally, many have asked about attire and what looks best.  Below is a guide I’ve put together to potentially help coordinate outfits.  Overall, neutral colors and classic silhouettes work best and stand the test of time.  Try to avoid bright jewel colors(magenta, deep yellows and oranges, turquoise, etc.) because the sun will often bounce off of it and reflect on to other family members.

Good examples of neutral outfits involve styles and textures that vary.  Though the color scheme is similar throughout your family, different textures and small pops of color that vary outside of the palette make for an interesting yet coordinated look without being too “matchy-matchy”.  Take into account the location of the shoot as well.  Flowy blouses and dresses look great at the beach and boots are practical and lovely in fields/meadows/woodsy locations.

Patterns should be different in scale.  If one is medium sized, then the others can be small or blocked.  See the family above—Mom is in a striped top with solid skirt matching both Dad and little one.  Dad in solid colors balances out the family as well.

Don’t be afraid to wear a little bit of black to give your look a trendy pop.  Black is slimming, classy, and always in style.  Black works best in portrait sessions taken around the fall months.  Also, remember to layer and accessorize!  Dad’s blazer looks great above.

Just as each family member is different in shape, size, and personality approach your outfits in the same way.  Each member should wear something that reflects his/her own personality and style, but looks cohesive overall.
